This is a mind map with some ideas for my photography project. I have mapped out some key ideas as well as some images that link to them.
- The first idea would look at the beauty of decay. Specifically I would focus on images of landscapes/cityscapes or specific areas and buildings that are considered to be decaying or falling apart, but instead of showing them in an unflattering manner I would aim to show the beauty hidden beneath the decay.
- The second idea would look at the wildness of nature specifically how nature has a way of taking over or being unruly. Some ideas I had linked to urban settings again but with a focus on things such as ivy on walls and moss growing.
- The third idea I had would look at the idea of home and what it holds. I would look at different peoples homes what they consider to be firmly and perhaps focus on portraits of people and their homes. In contrast I could take this idea and aim to bend the idea of what a home, replacing warm settings with cold unnatural feelings. This would use a power photography to show how what is in front of us can be changed or seen differently through different eyes.#
- The fourth idea would look at the melancholy nature of nostalgia. I would look at different objects or places that can be linked to the idea of childhood but I would explore the setting through melancholy nature, this would aim to show the sadness that comes with ageing as well as to make the viewer feel empty and hollow while also recalling images in which they can link to their own pasts.
- My last idea would look at beauty, more specifically defying beauty standards. I would aim to take portraits of people that go against society's norms of beauty, exploring body hair, clothing, tatties and/or any other aspects considered "different". The work would focus on mainly female subjects and tackle areas not always discussed among crowds.
